# Getting started with Telegram bot

To connect [Telegram bot](https://top.gg/bot/1123949801613049866) to your Discord channel, follow these steps:

1. You need to create your Telegram bot (if you already have a bot, move to the next step).

Go to your Telegram -> open [BotFather](https://t.me/BotFather). Here, you can create and manage your Telegram bots. 

Click on **Start** -> in the appeared list click on the `/newbot` command. Choose the name of your bot and copy the provided token.

| Important: You can forward messages from Telegram channels and groups to Discord. Please note that when you add a bot to a group or channel in Telegram, you must grant it admin rights to allow the bot to view, send, edit, and delete messages in the Telegram group or channel.

2. Open your Discord server and provide token with `/connect` command in any Discord channel where you want to connect the bot.

After that your conversations in Telegram bot will be forwarded into a connected Discord channel in public threads. All replies in created threads will be forwarded back into a Telegram chat.

To setup the application according to your needs, you can use the **Settings** section. Send the `/list` command in the channel where you've just connected the app, and click Settings.
