# How to add a terms and conditions checkbox

The agreement checkbox asks customers to accept your terms and conditions, return policy or any other rule before they go to checkout. It's shown above the **Checkout** button in the cart drawer.

# ${color}[#204a87](Turn on the checkbox)

1. Open **ShopCart** and click **Edit** in the **Cart Drawer** card.
2. Turn on the **Agreements** toggle on the left and click **Agreements**.

# ${color}[#204a87](Write the text and add a link)

1. In **Text**, enter the sentence next to the checkbox, up to 200 characters, for example "I agree to the Terms and Conditions".
2. To link to your policy, select the words, for example "Terms and Conditions", click the link icon in the toolbar and paste the address of your policy page.
3. Click **Save** at the top of the editor.

You find the addresses of your policies in your Shopify admin under **Settings** > **Policies**.

# ${color}[#204a87](Make the checkbox required)

Select **Required field** and click **Save**. Customers then can't go to checkout until they tick the checkbox. If they click **Checkout** without it, the text and the checkbox turn red.

If **Required field** is off, the checkbox is only a reminder and customers can go to checkout without ticking it.

To change the text color, the error color and the checkbox colors, open the **Styles** tab.
