# How to add product upsells to the cart

Upsells suggest more products right in the cart drawer, in a "You might also like" section. Customers add a suggested product with one click, without leaving the cart.

# ${color}[#204a87](How upsells work)

Each upsell offer decides which products to suggest. You can create several offers, and all their products are shown together in one section. There are four types of offers:

* **Shopify product recommendations**: Shopify picks related products automatically, based on a shopper's behavior and order history.
* **One more cheapest product from the cart**: suggests buying another one of the cheapest product in the cart.
* **One more expensive product from the cart**: suggests buying another one of the most expensive product in the cart.
* **Manual upsell offer**: you choose which products to suggest and when.

# ${color}[#204a87](Turn on upsells)

1. Open **ShopCart** and click **Edit** in the **Cart Drawer** card.
2. Turn on the **Upsells** toggle on the left.
3. Click **Save** at the top of the editor.

# ${color}[#204a87](Create an upsell offer)

1. Click **Upsell 1** under **Upsells**. To create one more offer, click **Add new upsell**.
2. In **Select type**, choose the type of offer.
3. For **Manual upsell offer**, set the rule:
   * **When buy this**: **Any products**, **Specific product** or **Specific collection** in the cart.
   * **Then show this**: a **Specific product** or a **Specific collection** to suggest. Click **Add** to choose the products.
4. Click **Save**.

For example, suggest snowboard bindings when a snowboard from the **Snowboards** collection is in the cart.

A warning icon next to a product means "One or more items are out of stock." To pause an offer without deleting it, click the eye icon (**Hide upsell offer**) next to its name. To remove it, click **Delete offer**.

# ${color}[#204a87](Choose how upsells look)

Click **Upsells** to set the options for all offers:

* **Display type**: **Slider** shows the products one by one with arrows, **List** shows them one under another, and **Bar** shows them in a separate panel next to the cart drawer.
* **Max upsell offers count**: limits how many products are shown.
* **Show variant selector**: lets customers choose a variant, for example a color, before adding the product.
* **Content**: the section title and the text of the **Add** button.
* **Discount badge**: the "Save" badge for products with a compare-at price.

To change colors, open the **Styles** tab.

The suggested products appear in the "You might also like" section of the cart. When a customer clicks **Add**, the product goes into the cart and disappears from the suggestions.
