# How to translate the cart

If your store is in several languages, you can translate every text of the ShopCart cart drawer: the title, announcement, rewards messages, buttons and more. Customers then see the cart in the language they chose on your store.

# ${color}[#204a87](Before you start)

* Add and publish the language in your Shopify admin, under **Settings** > **Languages**. ShopCart shows a tab for each published language.
* Write the texts in your main language in the cart editor first. The **Translations** page shows them as the originals.

# ${color}[#204a87](Translate the cart texts)

1. Open **ShopCart** and click **Translations** in the app menu.
2. Click the language you want to translate, for example **German**.
3. Every widget has its own card, for example **Header**, **Announcement**, **Rewards** and **Footer**. The original text is on the left and the translation field is on the right.
4. Enter the translation in the field on the right. To start from the original, click **Copy original** next to it.
5. Click **Save**.

On the store, the cart now uses your translation for that language:

Texts you don't translate are shown in your main language. To remove a translation, click **Clear translation** (the trash icon) next to it. To change the original text, click the pencil icon (**Edit in cart editor**) on the card.

# ${color}[#204a87](Tips for translating)

* Keep the variables in double curly braces as they are, for example `{{cart_items_quantity}}`, `{{min_amount}}` or `{{timer}}`. Translate only the words around them.
* Some texts, like the announcement and the rewards messages, are shown with HTML tags such as `<p>` and `</p>`. Keep the tags and translate the text between them.
* When you add a new tier or change a text in the cart editor, come back to **Translations** and update that language too.
