✔️ Multiple Shopify stores

Shopify provides many opportunities for business expansion and trade worldwide. Namely, merchants can create multiple stores with similar or different products for each region.

In 2021, Shopify launched Shopify Markets, a management tool that helps to add and manage international markets. However, there are reasons to still create multiple separate stores:

  • Different companies in different countries

If you operate in multiple countries, you may need separate stores for each market. This allows you to offer different products, manage local teams, or work with regional partners.

  • Shopify Payments is not available in your country

Shopify Payments is only available in certain countries. To use it, merchants often establish a legal entity in a supported country and create a separate store.

  • High volume of international orders with different currencies

Even if customers see local currencies, payments are processed in the store’s main currency, which can lead to conversion fees. To avoid this, merchants often create separate stores with different base currencies.

Managing multiple stores requires more attention for operational and financial issues. However, there are ways to simplify this process by using a store connection feature in the Selector app.

✔️ Way to manage multiple stores

It provides the ability to synchronize multiple stores. This option only available on the Premium plan.

Benefits of using Sync feature:

  • Automatic redirection across stores

Connect your multiple stores and seamlessly redirect customers to the most relevant stores based on their location and preferences.

  • Flexible custom resources

Add any custom resources (countries, markets, languages, etc.) to all synchronized stores.

  • Unlimited stores connection

There are no limits for the number of stores. You can add and synchronize as many stores as you need.

  • Multi-stores selector

Premium plan provides you with a multistore selector that allows switching markets on your stores.

  • One plan for all stores

Activate the Premium plan on your primary store and use all its features on your secondary stores at no extra cost! Pay once – use on all stores.

✔️ How to connect Shopify stores

  1. Open the store that you want to connect to the Primary store.
  2. Select Stores from the left menu and click Join connections -> copy provided token.
  3. Go to the Primary store -> Stores and click Connect store.

  1. Paste the token of the store that you want to connect to the current store -> click Connect.

If you need to connect more stores, just follow the steps above for every store.

  1. Click Sync stores.

  1. Enable auto-redirect or recommendation banner if necessary.

✔️ Top-5 notes for better result

Here we’ve collected all the key points you should know when using the Sync feature. These notes will help you better understand how it works and get maximum benefits of stores synchronization.

  1. Primary and secondary stores’ resources. When you synchronize stores, only selectors are synced from the primary store to the secondary stores. At the same time, all available resources are taken from each secondary store individually.
  2. Select relevant selectors. When connecting stores, selectors are added in a disabled state by default to prevent potential conflicts. This also allows you to easily decide which selectors to activate and which ones to keep inactive. When you click Sync stores, their status is synchronized with the status on the primary store.
  3. Resync after changes. If you apply any changes on any store to your resources (language, currency, country), you should resync your stores. If you don’t do this, changes will be applied only to the stores where you did them.
  4. One country for one market. If your primary store includes a specific country (for example, the USA), your secondary stores should not include that same country. Having the same country assigned to multiple stores may cause conflicts and lead to incorrect display or behavior.
  5. Overwrite existing resources option. When you delete any resource from your secondary store and click Sync stores, the deleted resource will appear again on the secondary store. When you delete any resource from your primary store and click Sync stores, this resource will be still available on your secondary stores. But if you want to delete the specific resource from all your stores, just enable the Overwrite existing resource option.
