✔️ Display when necessary
The Display when necessary option is designed to show the banner only when it’s relevant to the visitors, when they change their language, currency, or country.

When a customer visits your store for the first time, the banner appears as a modal window. At this moment, Selecty determines the most suitable option based on the selected resources (languages, country, currency). The language is determined according to the browser language of a visitor and country or currency are determined by the location of a visitor.
- If the customer simply closes the banner, Selecty remembers the currently detected value.
- If the customer makes a selection, their chosen option is saved.
As the customer continues browsing the store, Selecty keeps track of this remembered preference. If the customer later opens a page where the current language, market, or currency differs from what was previously saved, the banner appears again. It will display all available options so the customer can quickly confirm or change the preferences..
In case, when the customer updates their selection, Selecty immediately saves the new preference and work with them. Thus, the banner is displayed only if the customer changes their language, currency, or country.
✔️ Forced recommendations
The Forced recommendations option is designed to strictly forward visitors to the automatically detected language, market, or currency.

When a customer visits the store for the first time, Selecty compares the current store resource with the one detected automatically. If they don’t match, a modal banner appears showing only the detected option. Even if the customer closes the banner or manually confirms the suggestion, Selecty always saves only the detected resource, not a manually selected one.
As the customer continues browsing the store, Selecty consistently enforces this detected preference. If the customer switch the resource using a selector, Selecty automatically redirects them back to the detected language, market, or currency.
This option is useful when you want to ensure visitors always see the version of the store that best matches their location.
✔️ Remember choice
The Remember choice option is designed to save the visitor’s last selected language, market, or currency and automatically redirect them to that saved preference.

When a customer visits the store for the first time, Selecty displays a banner as a modal window. The visitor should select preferred language, market, or currency. Once a selection is made, the app saves this preference and automatically switches the visitor to it if they later access the store in a different language, market, or currency.
If the visitor closed the banner without making a selection, Selecty saves the resources detected during the first visit instead.
Visitors can change their preferences by switching resources via a selector. After that, the new selection will be saved and used for all future visits until the visitor changes it again.
✔️ Display once
The Display once option is designed to show recommendations only once if needed and won’t be displayed in the future.

When a customer visits the store for the first time, Selecty shows a banner if they land on the wrong version of the website.
For example, the visitor is from France and he lands on the Italian version of the store. In this case, the banner will be displayed with the recommendation to switch to the version that corresponds to France.
- If the visitor select resource, they will see the selected language, currency, or market. The visitor can later change their preference using a selector, and the updated choice will be displayed to them. In this case, the banner won’t appear again.
- If the customer simply closes the banner without making a selection, Selecty continues using the resources detected during the first visit. The banner will also not be shown again.
✔️ Display for everyone
The Display for everyone option is designed to show recommendations to every new visitor, regardless of the visitor's country, currency, or browser language.

For example, the visitor is from France and they land on the French version of the store. In this case, the banner will be displayed with the recommendation to switch to other language, currency, or market.
If the visitor is from France and they land on the Italian version of the store. In this case, the banner also will be displayed with the recommendation to switch to other language, currency, or market.
When a customer visits the store for the first time, Selecty displays a banner as a modal window.
- If the visitor selects resource, they will see the selected language, currency, or market. The visitor can later change their preference using a selector, and the updated choice will be displayed to them. In this case, the banner won’t appear again.
- If the customer simply closes the banner without making a selection, Selecty continues using the resources detected during the first visit. The banner will also not be shown again.
This option is very similar to the Display once option. The difference is that the Display for everyone option will work for every new visitor, regardless of the visitor's country, currency, or browser language.
✔️ Important notes
- The banner – except Display for everyone - will be displayed only if the resource of a visitor is added to the market of the store. For example, if a visitor is from France lands on a market that corresponds to Germany but France is not included in other markets of the store, the recommendation banner will not be displayed.
- In the builder for all types - except When necessary - there is an option to specify the time when the banner should reappear. It works always without conditions for the Display for everyone option, and it works for the rest of options if the conditions are met.
