Quick start: create and publish your first label in Lably

This guide takes you from installing Lably to a label that's live in your store, in about five minutes.

Labels and badges

Lably has two types of items:

• Label: sits on top of the product image, in a corner or at the center. For example, "SALE" in the top-right corner of the photo.
• Badge: sits in the product information next to the image, for example above the product title or below the price.

You can add both to the same product, and as many of each as you need.

Turn on the app embed

Lably shows labels through a Shopify app embed. Make sure it's on:

1. Open Lably. On the home page, find the Theme extension card.
2. If the status isn't Active, click Activate. Your theme editor opens with the Lably app embed.
3. Turn on the embed and click Save in the theme editor.

The app embed doesn't change your theme code.

Start from a ready-made label

If your store had no labels when you installed Lably, the app adds five ready-made labels for you. They're in the Labels & Badges list with the Draft status, so customers don't see them yet:

• New arrival: "NEW" on products created in the last 30 days.
• Low stock: "LOW STOCK" on products that are in stock but have fewer than 10 items.
• Sold out: "SOLD OUT" on products that are out of stock.
• Discount percent: the discount in percent, for example "−20%", on products with a compare-at price.
• Discount amount: the amount saved, for example "SAVE $50.00", on products with a compare-at price.

To use one, click its name, change the text and colors if you like, and click Publish. Leave the ones you don't need as drafts or delete them.

Create a label from scratch

1. On the Lably home page, click Create Label (or Create Badge).
2. Enter a name in the field at the top left, for example "Summer sale". Customers don't see the name.
3. Go to Label and choose the type:
4. • Text: enter the text, for example "SALE".
   • Image: click Select image and upload your own picture.
4. Go to Styles and Position to set the look and place of the label.
5. In Display Conditions, choose which products get the label. With no conditions, the label appears on all products.

The preview on the right updates as you go. Use Desktop, Tablet and Mobile at the top to see the label on different screens.

What each editor section does

• Label (or Badge): the text or image. Locales next to the text field adds translations. The { } button adds dynamic values such as the discount or the stock left.
• Styles: shape, background, border, text style, size, spacing and rotation. See Set label size, shape and position for desktop, tablet and mobile.
• Position: for a label, one of 9 corners of the image and the margin. For a badge, the place in the product information, for example Above product title. Both can use a custom CSS selector.
• Link: a page that opens when the customer clicks the label. Select Open in new window to open it in a new tab.
• Visibility on pages: where the label appears: Home Page, Product Pages, Search Results Pages, Cart Page, Collection Pages and Other Pages.
• Animations (paid plans): makes the label move to catch attention, for example Pulse or Swing.
• Week schedule and Display period (paid plans): show the label only on certain days, hours or dates, in your store's or the visitor's time zone.
• Translations (paid plans): the label text for each language of your store.
• Display Conditions: which products get the label. See Display conditions: show a label only on the products you choose.

Save and publish

1. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar at the top of the page.
2. Click Publish at the top right of the editor.

The label appears in your store within a few seconds. Its status in the list changes from Draft to Published. To hide it again, open it and click Unpublish.
